Smart Devices Showcased at The 4th China Information Technology Expo
Launch of Xess in North America to Bring More Interactive Experience to Families
(Hong Kong, 6 May 2016) - TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited (“TCL Communication” or the “Company” which, together with its subsidiaries and its affiliates, is referred to as the “Group”; HKSE stock code: 2618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products in April and the first 4 months of 2016.
The Group’s total sales volume of handsets and other products totalled 4,643,000 units in April 2016. Sales volume of handsets and other products in overseas markets totalled 4,411,000 units, while shipments in China market totalled 232,000 units. Sales volume of smart devices totalled 2,517,000 units, and accounted for 54% of the Group’s total shipment for the month. For the first 4 months of 2016, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products totalled 21,852,000 units, while the cumulative sales volume of smart devices totalled 11,378,000 units.
In April, the Group’s alcatel brand was announced as the official sponsor of The 10th La Rochelle Beach Cup in France. The Group demonstrated its smart devices at the event, including flagship smartphone IDOL 4 series with VR box and GO PLAY, which received overwhelming responses and successfully drew attentions from the participants, further raising the exposure and recognition of the Group’s brand new image in the European market.
On the other hand, the Group’s 17.3 inch BigPad Xess, which was made available in China earlier, has also been introduced to the global market recently. In April, Xess declared its official entering to the North American market, and is committed to building a new home living style and providing various scenario content platform by compiling content for enjoyable cooking, family interaction, children’s education and household entertainment. Following the partnership with kid’s channel Nickelodeon, parents can download content from the channels with ease for their children, offering more kitchen and kids household experience, and making it more convenient for users to preset customised contents.
In addition, The 4th China Information Technology Expo (CITE 2016), organised by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality, was held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center, where the Group showcased a number of smart devices. As the main exhibitor, the Group displayed two smart devices IDOL 3 and Joy 2C, which became the focus at the expo. The smart devices not only possess outstanding designs, but also bring the young and intelligent elements to new extremes, offering users a better experience. At the expo, Huai Jinpeng, the Deputy Minister of MIIT, visited the TCL booth area personally, and expressed his high rating and recognition towards TCL’s efforts in enhancing technology innovation capability and driving industrial developments.
